Brew Monkey Beer Company was started by Jim Hansen, a seasoned brewer from the San Francisco Area of California. After four long years of effort, Brew Monkey Beer Company will finally be opening in August 2020 on Starcrest Drive.

Together with his wife Samantha (a San Antonio native) and young son Ben, Jim is looking forward to moving the San Antonio beer scene into the national spotlight. We want San Antonio to be a beer destination. At Brew Monkey Beer Company, our brewery has been designed to help create the highest quality product possible. No area was left wanting – from the grain handling to the Reverse Osmosis system.

A couple of styles you can expect at opening are a West Coast IPA, Steam Beer, Bavarian Hefeweizen, Irish Stout, and a Honey Blonde Ale. In addition to the core 5, we will have a constant rotation of styles, to keep it fresh for you. You will also find house-made non-alcoholic ginger beer and root beer. Come check out the taproom to play games, bring your four-legged friends, grab a bite from a local food-truck, and learn something new about good beer.

Paige Martin is a native Texan originally from the Houston area. After graduating from UTSA, Paige worked in Alaska for a brewery and craft beer bar but always had a special place in her heart for the San Antonio beer scene. Paige loves to read and learn and is on her way to becoming a Certified Cicerone. She loves any beer that tells a good story and can not wait to share our stories with others.

Keelie Taylor, our taproom and marketing manager, is a proud San Antonio native and Texas craft beer aficionado. She has a pension for Scrabble, useless trivia and any adorable four-legged animal. Keelie is a recent UTSA graduate (go Runners!) and has more than 20 years of hospitality experience that she brings to the table

Lou joins our team with years of experience. After a stint developing his craft in California and working for some of the Central Coast’s most popular breweries, he came to San Antonio in hopes of sharing and further sharpening his keen knowledge of brewing. Lou is a serious innovator in flavor building and his own personal style. He has a passion for building big tastes in his brews and enjoys developing recipes, in hopes in making the next great beer San Antonians and everyone will love.
